Circle of Friends Sponsorship Program

Circle of Friends Sponsorship Program

Dear future Circle of Friends member,

Red Ink invites you to join the 2007 Circle of Friends Sponsorship Program!

Red Ink Magazine is a grassroots, student-run publication at University of Arizona under the auspices of the American Indian Studies Program. The primary mission of Red Ink is to highlight Native American intellectual and creative expression through poetry, creative writing, photography, artwork, scholarly articles, and book, music, and film reviews. Interdisciplinary in focus, visionary in content, and intergenerational in participation, Red Ink provides a forum for students and non-students, Native Nations, and Native American people to engage in an open dialogue which emphasizes Native American life today.

Red Ink is unique in that it is the only Native American publication of its kind in the country that is published exclusively by graduate and undergraduate students. Red Ink Magazine provides both Native and non-Native students attending the University of Arizona valuable opportunities to develop their skills in the areas of writing, editing, publishing, marketing, and community outreach to name a few.

As a grassroots, student-run publication, Red Ink relies on support from outside the University of Arizona. Over the years, Red Ink has been fortunate to receive funding for our operational expenses from the American Indian Studies Program. Now, due to pending university-wide budget cuts, the future of Red Ink is in jeopardy without more outside funding. Frankly put, Red Ink and the opportunities it offers to Indian Country and Indigenous peoples throughout the North American continent would be impossible without more support.

With this in mind, Red Ink hopes to build a collaborative partnership between Red Ink and local, national, and international organizations; individual supporters; and Native Nations interested in promoting themselves while at the same time strengthening our important publication.

In return for becoming a part of the Circle of Friends Sponsorship Program, Red Ink will provide you with advertising opportunities in the Red Ink Magazine and on the Red Ink website (www.redinkmagazine.com). Because of our diverse readership which includes tribal governments and organizations, tribal leaders, tribal members, tribally-operated schools and libraries, artists and writers, those who join the Red Ink Circle of Friends Sponsorship Program will gain high visibility both inside and outside of Indian Country.

We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at redink@email.arizona.edu.

Sincerely,

Eddie Welch
