Hi All:

We are pleased to announce that we have received two new grants which will allow us to continue our work for at least the next three years. As you know, Math in a Cultural Context (Yup'ik Math) presents a wonderful opportunity for the right persons. We are looking for two quantitative positions and one qualitative position. We are also including a post doc, to give us a wider net, and if we want the post doc route then one quan position would not go forward. We are advertising at the Chronicle online.

But, I am hoping that those of you who know our program might know of

someone(s) who would fit. I am attaching a job announcement and including links to apply for these positions. See below. Thanks.

I am including one description in case that helps.

Math in a Cultural Context (MCC) is a long-term, successful culturally-based math curricula development and implementation project based on Yup'ik Eskimo elders' knowledge. Rigorous randomized experimental trials have shown significant improvement in elementary school-aged Alaska Native students' and other students' math performance. Also, ethnographically oriented classroom case studies have described factors in the program's success.

MCC, part of The University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Education, invites applications for the following positions. All positions are three-year term funded. The purpose of this project is to provide rigorous feedback on MCC curricula for determining their potential efficacy and improving the professional development component. The project works with Alaska Native communities, elders, and teachers, and school districts with the purpose of improving Alaska Native students' math performance. Full position descriptions and application procedures at https://www.uakjobs.com . The University of Alaska Fairbanks is an AA/EO employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
